Yoonsang Kim (Ph.D. Candidate)
Department of Computer Science, Stony Brook University

I am a sixth-year Ph.D. student in the Computer Science program at Stony Brook University, and a member of the Visualization Lab under Dr. Arie E. Kaufman. My research focuses on how data is intelligently adapted across realities -- Physicality and Virtuality (VR, AR, MR HMD, Mobile, Tiled Display, PC).

Specifically, I aim to design a personalized, context-aware XR interface that "understands" users, environments, and tasks, enabling the adaptation of visualization and interaction. I leverage multimodal AI that integrates speech, gestures, and visuospatial cues, to support (1) personalized information adaptation and (2) fluid user collaboration across realities. I also explore (3) security and privacy in ubiquitous, everyday XR.

I earned an M.S. in Computer Science from Stony Brook in 2020, and a B.S. from Soongsil University in 2017, where I worked on gesture-based remote desktop in mixed reality settings. Outside of research, I am a homebody who enjoys porch sitting and relaxing.
