Matthew Castellana (Ph.D. Candidate)
Department of Computer Science, Stony Brook University
I am a sixth-year student in the Computer Science program at Stony Brook University, and a member of the Visualization Lab under Prof. Kaufman. My research interests are virtual and augmented reality (XR), large wall displays, novel VR/AR peripherals and interfaces, remote collaboration, graphics, and related areas.
In the past, I have worked extensively with CAVE systems such as FlexiCAVE, Reality Deck, and SILO, extending and supporting the underlying systems as well as developing novel domain-specific applications. Currently, I am working on designing novel visualization techniques for these facilities. My other current project is centered around the design of a surgical AR system .
Before joining SBU I received a Bachelor’s Degree majoring in Film and Media Studies and Government from Dartmouth College, and two Bachelor’s degrees - one in Computer Science and one in Computer Systems and Engineering - from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
