Zainab Aamir (Ph.D. Candidate)
Department of Computer Science, Stony Brook University
I am a fifth-year Ph.D. student in the Computer Science program at Stony Brook University, and a member of the Visualization Lab under Prof. Arie E. Kaufman.
My research focuses on Extended Reality (XR), Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), and Immersive Analytics. I design and evaluate large-scale visualization systems, developing AI- and LLM-assisted analytics frameworks, interactive visualization tools, and user-centered XR interfaces. My goal is to make immersive environments more adaptive, explainable, and data-driven.
Additionally, I work on situated visualizations, spatial interaction, and LLM/VLM-assisted analytical workflows for next-generation XR interfaces. I work with novel visualization facilities, including FlexiCAVE, Reality Deck, and SILO, to understand the effect of spatial scale, embodiment, and context on users’ experience.
I earned my B.S. in Computer Science from LUMS in 2021 and completed my M.S. in Stony Brook alongside my Ph.D.
